Every year the magazine Advertising age carry out a number of industry specific surveys, which they publish on their website. The latest to be released is the 2008 executive compensation survey. The survey of executive salaries also includes reimbursement trends throughout advertising, marketing and media, providing top executive pay and compensation by industry category. Equilar, an executive-compensation-research firm, were asked to provide pay data for 100 US CMO-level marketing executives and for CEOs of the the 10 largest publicly held media companies. Ad Age selected the companies and executives from Equilar's database, which is drawn from proxy statements and other filings of publicly traded companies. Many companies don't disclose CMO pay in proxies, so the list provides a broad sample of CMO pay but is not comprehensive.
The website also provides free online access to the print edition's DataCenter columns which cover topics including ad spending, industry employment and holding-company new-business rankings; plus extended downloadable data for each column.
The latest issue of Advertising age can be found on the magazine stand located on the first floor of the library.
