Investment Property Databank (IPD) time series
Time series data from the Investment Property Databank (IPD) can be downloaded from Datastream. This service is available to current staff and students only - and must be accessed in the Library. It can be tricky to locate. Go to Datastream AFO and then:
- Pick time series.
- Click on red/orange code look-up icon.
- From the top category list pick Economics.
- Go to the Source option and pick the icon with three dots to browse the source names. Here you will find listed: Investment Property Databank,U.K. and IPD French Norwegian and Spanish series.
- Choose the UK option and then sort by market to pull together the coverage of different regions.
- You will find time series usually divided int: Industrial; Office; and Retail, including surhc series as: Income Return, Rental Index, Total Return Index, Number of Properties and Capital Growth. (Most series go back to 1986.)
So there is no charge for this?
REPLY - Not for our students, but find out more about commercial access at IPD.com

It is really decent to read a post from someone that knows a subject very well and is able to get their point across. You have a knack for making a difficult subject easy to understand. It is so well.
Done good job!

As for time series and statistical data etc.: I have just added an Economics Reference List (http://crisismaven.wordpress.com/references/) to my economics blog with economic and statistical data series, history, bibliographies etc. for students & researchers, probably the most comprehensive on the Internet. Currently over 200 meta sources, it will soon grow to over a thousand. Check it out and if you miss something, feel free to leave a comment.
