This latest pocketbook from Eurostat presents a broad set of data collected by Eurostat and the European Environment Agency. It gives an overview of Energy, transport and environment Indicators for the 27 EU Member States, the EFTA and candidate countries, with a particular focus on sustainable development. The main data source for indicators is the harmonised EU Energy Statistics whilst the bulk of data on emissions has been provided by the European Environment Agency.
Energy indicators include supply, final consumption, renewable sources, and the structure of the industry; energy dependency, energy efficiency, and energy prices. Transport indicators cover infrastructure, equipment, transport of passengers and freight and road safety. The Environment chapter includes indicators on climate change and greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, waste, water use, biodiversity, toxic chemicals and pesticides, environmental protection expenditure and environmental accounts.
